Couples wishing to say "I do" simply need to visit any county courthouse in Florida to obtain a marriage license. The ceremony can be performed the same day a license is obtained. January 1, 1999, a new Florida statute went into effect regarding a premarital preparation course. However, this law does not apply to out-of-state residents getting married in Florida. Non-Florida-resident couples simply pay the $93.50 license fee. There is no waiting period involved and counseling is not required.

Both applicants must be at least 18 years of age to apply without parental consent. If either applicant is under the age of 18 years but at least 16 years of age, a birth certificate and proof of identification is required along with a notarized written consent of the parents or guardian. Consent forms are available at the Marriage License Department. Applicants under 16 years of age must obtain a determination from a county court judge. A blood test is not required.

Sarasota County has more than 140 parks and beaches. Each county-owned facility is responsible for their own reservations. Park pavilions and open spaces are available for public use. Park space and picnic shelters are on a first come, first served basis with reservations available if preferred. Reservations require a nominal fee. No reservations are needed for picnic tables. Not all park space, however, requires a fee, call for fee and reservation information. Additionally, wheelchair accessible picnic tables are available at all parks.
